All things considered,..............

It went pretty well. We admitted Mom to the Long Term Care Facility today. The staff were so wonderful with her and made her feel so welcome. A couple of the nurses had worked with Mom years ago when she was a cook in the same facility. There was a lot going on today between all the admittance procedures and some of the staff stopping by to say hello. One of the nurses asked if she was going to cook for them. She told her that her hands were too shaky, to which the nurse replied, that's okay, you just tell us your recipes... When we left this evening, they were wheeling her out to the dining room for supper. Hopefully, the evening will go fast and she won't dwell too much on being there.

  1. Oh, this is hard stuff! But it is comforting to know that they are wanting your mom to share her expertise! That's very good. I hope you are holding up well, too. You both are in my thoughts.

  5. I thought of you and your family throughout yesterday, Melaine...I know it must have been difficult but the workers there will have her involved in different things, especially cooking...They are the BEST workers...very considerate and personable...she will be fine, just wait and see....

  6. My thoughts are with you and your mom as this must be so difficult for both of you. Knowing that the nurses are so kind must be a bit of comfort to you and I can see that the nurses are trying their best to make her feel still useful which is great. Life is not always so simple all of a sudden. Hugs, JB

  7. Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts and encouraging words. Mom got through her first day okay. I think she got through better than we did actually.
