ATC's

April showers

Feeling Blue

Hit and Miss Brights

Pick a Posy

ATC's are such a fun and fast project. I made these four at Thursday's hookin and finished them on our STORMY Friday. April Showers is for the April swap on Rug Hooking Daily.  It 's fun to swap them, to see what others are doing and how they finish them. Anyone interested in swapping here? Let me know and we'll see what we can work out.

The finished size of an ATC is 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches. The same size as a playing card. They don't have to be hooked. They  can be quilted, embroidered, or whatever direction you mind takes you. The only limit is the size.

Seriously Mother!

Nature, that is. We have had a couple of weeks of nice days, a little bit chilly but the snow was all just about gone.
Notice, there is hardly any snow in the background of these pictures.
And then, today this is what we have.  Seriously!!!!!

I saw a Robin yesterday and I was thinking... yeah, it's Spring. Today, I'm thinking.... wherever that poor little Robin is, I sure hope he has a furnace.

March came in like a Lion so it's supposed to go out like a lamb. Looks to me like the Lion ate that lamb!!!

A couple of one of a kind upcycled purses,

and an assortment of knitting stitch markers

There are several more designs to choose from. Check it out.

Wow!!! I won.

I got a call yesterday informing me that I had won a $100 Tuition Voucher for RHGNL Rug hooking camp in August at Kildevil Camp, Gros Morne, Newfoundland. I didn't even know I was qualified to win. Apparently they picked several names (from their member list) at their meeting and hook-in. Woot, woot. Wow, I never win anything. Anyone else thinking of going?

All things considered,..............

It went pretty well. We admitted Mom to the Long Term Care Facility today. The staff were so wonderful with her and made her feel so welcome. A couple of the nurses had worked with Mom years ago when she was a cook in the same facility. There was a lot going on today between all the admittance procedures and some of the staff stopping by to say hello. One of the nurses asked if she was going to cook for them. She told her that her hands were too shaky, to which the nurse replied, that's okay, you just tell us your recipes... When we left this evening, they were wheeling her out to the dining room for supper. Hopefully, the evening will go fast and she won't dwell too much on being there.

I know, I know

I know that it is this right decision to make, but it still sucks. Thanks to
all you guys for your kind words of encouragement.

And guess what else, it's snowing again. March certainly came in like a LION in our neck of the woods, so we hope it's going to go out like a LAMBE. I guess we will have to see about that one.  The girls are supposed to come tonight for a hookin. I wonder if any of them will brave it. I hope someone shows up, if not I have to eat a whole batch of Cheesecake swirl brownies.  Can you say YUM?

Why do some good decisions make you feel bad?

My mom, who will be 83 yrs old this year, has been going downhill healthwise the last couple of years. Mentally, she is doing wonderful, Physically, her body is failing her. She has been living with my sister now for the last three years. A few months ago we had to make the decision to put her name on a waiting list for a bed in the extended health care facility in her hometown.  Yesterday, she got the call that they had a bed available for her. We have to get things ready to move her on Tuesday. I know that she needs the extra care that they can provide, but it is still pretty emotional for all of us. Tuesday will not be a good day!!! The good part about this is she is still close to us for visiting.
