Why do some good decisions make you feel bad?
My mom, who will be 83 yrs old this year, has been going downhill healthwise the last couple of years. Mentally, she is doing wonderful, Physically, her body is failing her. She has been living with my sister now for the last three years. A few months ago we had to make the decision to put her name on a waiting list for a bed in the extended health care facility in her hometown. Yesterday, she got the call that they had a bed available for her. We have to get things ready to move her on Tuesday. I know that she needs the extra care that they can provide, but it is still pretty emotional for all of us. Tuesday will not be a good day!!! The good part about this is she is still close to us for visiting.

Melaine ~
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you. It is so difficult to watch an aging parent decline. Take comfort in knowing that she will receive care that neither you nor your sister can give her and that you can visit her on a regular basis.
Hugs :)

Melaine,
ReplyDeleteI feel for you. This is such a tough decision to make. I hope that your family can travel through the next week with peace and grace. You're all in my thoughts.

Oh this is a tough one and it makes sense for your mother. I would be worse to not make the decision and have her needs not met. It is always hard to have the burden of that decison.
ReplyDeleteblessing to you

Melaine,
ReplyDeleteI can imagine how hard this will be for you all. But know that you are doing what is in the best interest of your family. I will need to make that same decision in the future and I am not looking forward to that day either.
Good luck and know that we are all thinking of you.
Kim
Oh my goodness I feel for you and for her - getting older is rough. sandie
ReplyDeleteMelaine, I'm so sorry about what you're going through right now. It is very hard on families when they have to place a loved one in a nursing home. You've had such a rough past six months or so and now this! My thoughts will be with you and your family on Tuesday.

Know how you feel, Melaine...Twice it happened with us but after getting situated, I'm sure your Mom will be fine and the good thing is that you are close and able to visit with her...she is going to a great place where the workers are Angels, indeed....take care...
